Over & Out

So 2015 was quite uneventful & drab but even then it has its share of personal achievements that I can think of. Clicking pictures and writing took a back seat, I chose to soak it all in rather than look through the viewfinder that often.
  1. I traveled and how. A personal decision became a mission and one that was well achieved. Where all did I go? Amsterdam, Delhi (Thrice), Chennai (Twice), Goa, Srinagar - Gulmarg, Pondicherry. Can't wait to better this in 2016.
  2. Cooked to save a life and more. Chicken curries and rice and a tad bit more. I want to move onto making cocktails now.
  3. Traveled with my sibling. While I have traveled with friends, family & cousins I have never traveled with her alone.
  4. Went to Kashmir. The place was home once - as my grand mom tells me & exactly how she described it from memory.
  5. Two of my closest friends got married. One after over 12 years of courtship. True love exists.
  6. Attend a Telugu wedding - check.
  7. Aced all my tests - blood tests of some 8 types. Don't remember the last time I got them.
  8. Traveled by a plane, bus, tram, cycle, car & a boat - all on a single vacation itself.
  9. Tried Marijuana : ) No wait - 'did' marijuana
  10. Took a holiday with a friend. Had never done so - strongly advise it.

I often wonder what drives young men to take to arms. I realise they are driven towards a wrong cause by some men who were misled too. In the following lines I try to depict the scene of terrorist who is embarking on his task, in the hope that men do not take recourse by such measures for there are people as well as a power that awaits to make amends. Cowed down by ways of his life in a corner he sits scared, With folded hands and open palms, head bowed down in prayer, Misled by his virtues, his future on the floor, A voice inside that’s telling him, to settle all his scores. For tragedies yet to happen, all miseries he must stall, Rise for the common cause, answer Allah’s call, What he won’t know is that his heart is cold and still, And all that he plans about, is against Allah’s will. Misery in his bloodshot eyes, his lips spell out a curse, Misunderstood, oft repeated a common holy verse, Deep in prayer with beads of sweat upon his brow, he summons his men miss bred, Heaven has been

Happiness Is...

So this ones a lift from a friends post who writes way better and more often than me. Her post made me think of attempting the same on what defines the word. So what is it to me? - Watching a river float a leaf as it runs past until the leaf runs out of sight - Sitting alone in a corner of the house with a book in dead silence - Watching dust particles bath and glow in sunlight as it peers through the cracks in a window - By standing and watching a joy wave ride through a bunch of special people - Look at swallows at dusk and imagine them to be planes - Watching strangers greet one another at airports - Driving in the rain on an open highway - Watching my sisters happy and then watching them try to conceal the emotion - A drink with Dad - Also, being his caddie on the course - Perfect barbecue sauce & the family savoring it up - A successful snake rescue - Writing letters and this blog - Receiving a call from a long lost friend - Genuine Thank You's - Hardb
